My Marketing Philosophy

I believe the best marketing starts with understanding the audience. Every campaign should answer one question: What does this audience actually care about?

That mindset shaped my work with the Utah Valley Marathon. During my first year, I focused on promoting the race experience by highlighting amenities and race weekend activities. While the content performed well, it didn't create the level of engagement I was hoping for.

The following year, I shifted the strategy to focus on the runners themselves. I partnered with race influencers to create training-focused content that helped participants prepare while building excitement for race day. During the event, I collaborated with winners from each race distance to share their finish-line moments on Instagram, extending the marathon's reach through authentic participant stories.

This experience reinforced my belief that the most effective marketing is about telling the stories they already care about.
